SPIDERMAN HOMECOMING MOVIE REVIEW

Hello life-lovers!

Last night was EPIC!? Why you ask! Cause I got to be in the premier screening of SPIDERMAN HOMECOMING at NOVO CINEMAS by EMPIRE MOVIES.

You know what was great about this movie?

There’s no Uncle Ben in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  There’s no wacky wrestling match, no mugger Spider-Man lets get away. There’s no Green Goblin; there are no Osborns at all. There’s no Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy or J. Jonah Jameson. And yet without any of those elements that seem essential to the idea of Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming feels like it gets to the core of its title character in ways none of the previous movies did. It’s pure, concentrated Spidey, and a lot of fun.

Homecoming provides an entire film though for Spider-Man to evolve into the hero we all know and love, and in that regard, it plays up the underdog aspect of the character even moreso than previous depictions. Especially alongside a fully fleshed-out MCU filled with more seasoned superheroes, Homecoming‘s Spider-Man feels like one we’ve never seen before, effortlessly assuaging concerned audiences who feared the hero’s story would get stale the sixth time around.

The plot goes like this - Picking up right after Iron Man and Steve Rogers’ falling out, Spider-Man: Homecoming finds Peter Parker thrown back into the horrors of high school, all the while battling restlessness and a desire to join the Avengers. In between being a model student, pining after the gorgeous Liz (Laura Harrier), and hiding his secret identity from Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), he stumbles upon a sinister group led by Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton), who use Chitauri technology to create weapons.

The twists are satisfying and the after-credit scene is hands down the best Marvel has ever done, so stick around for that. I wish Zendaya had more screen time. Maybe its meant for the next chapter. And Tom did a brilliant job as SPIDEY.

This film really does belong to Holland, who proves himself worthy of the high tech, multi-million dollar Spider-Man suit Stark made for him. He’s a dream to watch and steps up in the film’s few but crucial emotion moments. I can’t wait to see more of this guy. He’s the real deal.

Spider-Man: Homecoming emerges as one of the character’s strongest films to date, granting him a clean slate and infinite room to grow.

I give it 4.5/5 stars

Much Love
