Tomato and Basilico - Restaurant Review

Last week I tried the Italian restaurant - Tomato and Basilico located in Dubai Motor city. They are also located near silicon oasis. The restaurant invites you in with a whiff of Italian which to be honest made me more hungry.

Run by  Francesco Daswani, the restaurant is amazing with beautiful decor and the food is unique with authentic Italian taste. I love Italian food and its very rare I find an Italian restaurant like this with authentic Italian food.

About Tomato and Basilico 

Our passion for cooking started in Rome at a very young age, when we used to watch our Nonna prepare the traditional family Sunday lunch, where all our aunts, uncles and cousins gathered once a week for a truly Italian feast. We then moved abroad far from our family but kept the tradition alive and every Sunday we used to replicate our Nonna’s recipes for our friends and family.

During our years away from our homeland we always found ourselves missing our native food and hunting for great Italian restaurants, but no matter how good they were, they always lacked that something which wasn’t quite the same as home, the “nonna-seal-of –approval” if you may.

In the hunt for this familiar taste, which we so deeply yearned, my brother Francesco and I started playing with the idea of opening our own place and finally give it that “missing ingredient” that we were looking for.

From this idea Tomato and Basilico was born, where our goal is to replicate the simple and genuine tastes of Italy, and invite you to join in our tradition and have a great family meal with us.

What I Tried 

Verdict 

I absolutely fell in love with their italian pizza served with chilli sauce. I would highly recommend their pizzas, tiramisu desset and spaghetti . The chef is a sweetheart and they have really garnered enough fame in a matter of one year thanks to their amazing service and delicious taste . A must try when in Dubai !
